Ain’t Got None
The next time you go out in your car, take a good look around. Chances are there are other drivers on the same road who do not have any auto insurance. In other words “they ain’t got none”. If you get into an accident with them and you are injured, oh well. The only way that you will have any protection is if you have Uninsured Motorist coverage on your personal auto policy. Uninsured motorist coverage provides liability protection for you. In other words, it protects you from the ever-wonderful Mr. Ain’t Got None.
Another wonderful breed of human being is Mr. or Ms. “I’m Legal”. These are the incredibly responsible folks who buy only the minimum limits of auto liability insurance required by their State. In North Carolina the minimum limits are $30,000 per person, $60,000 per accident and $25,000 property damage. In my opinion that is way too low and in fact, Penny Insurance Agency will not sell minimum limits. If that is what a customer wants then we send them on down the road.
So, how do you protect yourself from Mr. or Ms. I’m Legal? Fortunately it is easy. Known as Underinsured Motorist coverage, it can be combined with the Uninsured Motorist coverage on your auto insurance policy. In fact, in North Carolina it is now mandatory coverage on your auto insurance.
Yes it will increase the premium but it is well worth it. Some of the largest claims we pay are underinsured and uninsured motorist claims. So protect yourself. If you are ever hurt in an accident the last thing you want to here is “I ain’t got none”.
